It is the birthplace of the now famous "Mission-Style" burrito. In addition to burritos, tacos, quesadillas, salads, nachos and plates that have no equal. Every offering is made to order. We make over 8 kinds of fajitas. You can request steak or chicken or pork or shrimp in your fajitas and it will be done for you. Further, we make our enchiladas fresh with any meat we offer. As a family-owned-and-operated restaurant since 1967, we want your family to make Taqueria La Cumbre one of your favorites, and we'll do whatever it takes to make that happen! Taqueria La Cumbre History: Many credit Raul and Michaela Duran, of Taqueria La Cumbre, with the creation of the now famous "Mission-Style Burrito" from their meat market located at 515 Valencia Street in 1969, which they converted into Taqueria La Cumbre in 1972.

In fact, flour tortillas were not available at that time, so Michaela and Raul hired a young man to make them early every morning at La Cumbre. He did this every morning before he began High School at Mission High. His name was Jorge Santana who left Taqueria La Cumbre to join the Classic Latin-Rock Group Malo. Jorge and Malo went on to create many Top 40 Latin Hits(see Jorge Santana's bio on his web site, JorgeSantana.com, in the section "Places in my Heart."). They instilled a simple philosophy to provide only the finest and freshest ingredients in every offering. They implemented strict guidelines to make sure that these ingredients came farm fresh to all Taqueria La Cumbre guests. In the end, choice meats and organic produce, when available, cost more, but all Taqueria La Cumbre Guests are worth it! After all, we are only as good as our last burrito.
